Yes I listen to a lot of music made before I was born and a lot of soft/yacht rock too - my white side coming through I guess - but then I will play just stuff by Black Artists the next day, again mostly 70s and 80s.
 
Purple Rain album on my Turntable (Project Carbon Evo) and just finished playing Welcome 2 America deluxe set of albums.

I paid $219 for this in late 2021 and only got to play it 4 weeks ago. Bear in mind $219 NZD is about $135USD. The spindle hole was barely wide enough on the first record.

I used to have a shitty cheap turntable from 2015 to 2020 and stopped playing stuff on it, when I watched some videos on cheap turntables (Mine was a TEAC LPU160) better than Crosley, but not much. I finally bought a decent turntable on Jan 2 this year. Have to admit, haven't used it much. But the sound is fantastic!
 
I love Cyndi Lauper. I don't know much of her work but I always enjoy hearing her sing.

Today, I thought I'd play some Prince music while I did some simple data entry, mindless stuff. It was a concert recording. Well. I listened to the first song and Prince announced the singer, who I'd never heard before. I thought, who IS that? It was an audio recording, so I had no idea what to expect. Always curious about who Prince chose to highlight, I went walkabout on youtube. She was only 9 yo at the time, in 2013. Do you know her?

Hi @barnswallow yeah i know this singer! I'm sub to her channel lol She did Patsy Clines cover. She hasn't done a ton of videos but with what she has shared, it's quality singing absolutely. I love Cyndi's artistry too.
