The NYTimes has a heading ‘fact-check’. Here are 2 articles that fall under that heading:
The president was wrong about birthright citizenship around the world, the Paris climate agreement and federal funding for condoms in Gaza, among other claims.

6 Inaccurate Claims Trump Has Used to Justify His Flurry of Orders [NYTimes;2.6.25]
Sub-title: “The president was wrong about birthright citizenship around the world, the Paris climate agreement and federal funding for condoms in Gaza, among other claims.”
The second ‘fact-check’ article:
Trump administration officials have misled about how the aid agency is spending its funding, in an effort to cite widespread “waste.”

Fact-Checking Claims About U.S.A.I.D. Funding [NYTimes;2.8.25]

The botheration about combatting bad lies with truth is that lying, while requiring some skill, is so dang easy. These dudes just say whatever comes into their heads. Split-second decisions. Countering the lies is time-consuming and difficult, requiring research, fact-checking, and careful choice of words.
However! After a certain number of times being lied to, it’s a safe bet to say the whole dang word salad coming from t0000, the muskmelon, and virtually every republican in D.C., plus far right YouTube influencers, glitzy TV news stations, like Fox, right-wing radio broadcasts every single hour of every day is a lie. They employ their favorite state propaganda expert’s, the russian government’s techniques: include grains of fact sprinkled throughout the twisted stories. To avoid being fooled or drawn into a losing argument, it’s best to consign every blasted word to the rubbish heap.
There are good republicans but they’ve either left the Party or been forced out. A number have started alternative media sites to still have a voice, to speak out.
One more bonus article. This one is not about the lies. This one is about quasi-legal attacks on our institutions (okay, usually based on lies), in this case the press, to subdue, intimidate, instill fear, or simply cost them a sh—load of money

in legal fees. Of course it helps to do this if you’ve just installed collaborators to head government departments - like the Justice Department - FBI, OMB, etc . . . Oh, and the ‘architect’ of Project 2025, russell vought, at ___?___ (must insert name of dept he will soon be leading). Republicans control Congress and they have approved virtually every nefarious character t0000 nominated, no matter how bad. The republican elected representatives are enabling this coup! It’s bizarre. Some are true maga; some are scared of getting doxxed or worse, and some are probably just self-serving opportunists.
First Amendment experts say Mr. Trump’s lawsuits, based on an unproven legal theory, lack merit. But more could be on the way.

We, the people, rely on the press to hold government accountable and keep us informed. So, from a fascistic, authoritarian perspective, the press must be squashed.
