What Prince Means 2 U

Hope you are all okay today, good to see so much love for Prince online. A while back I put together a video of some Prince fans thoughts about Prince

Will watch when my computer is repaired, all I have is an old laptop in the interim, so can't watch or make vids. Am aware of the anniversary and our loss.

Prince meant to me the most - liberation, the fact he projected his own image and sound and did not give a shit about what anyone else thought. He made his own sound, he chnaged the record industry/label model by being his own independent and blazed th trail for Black all musicians everywhere and that is before we discuss the genius of this unique man.

Prince has seen me through good times and bad times over the past 31 years and always been the constant in my life.

His music centers and focuses me whereas beforehand I might have been frozen in inaction, overwhelmed by some imagined obstacle. Just my reaction right now,.... cuz I was in that place.

Really like that description. There is something very true about that. Listening to his Music just gives me a confidence I often don't have.

I was an on and off listener to his music for years until I became a hardcore listener in 2015. 2015 was a very bad year for me, I wasn't able to leave the house, sometimes not even the bed. I was in this deep hole and all I had was the music I listened to. One of the songs on my playlist was Purple Rain, I hadn't listened to this song in years and gave it a go. Prince was the only artist on this playlist that pulled me out of this hole. Ever since then, his music helped me through every struggle. I'll always be thankful for that. He just had this hopeful nature to him that was contagious.

It's just incredible to hear you share that and really beautiful that you not only found Prince's music at the right time but it had such a profound effect. I truly think there is something uplifting and positive about his music that is very hard to describe. I hope you are doing okay now 😉

He was a musical genius - songwriter, performer and musician. He respected the art of musicianship. His lyrics ranged from the provocative to the silly. He was prolific and inspiring.
To me, Prince embodies exactly what a true rock/pop/funk artist is and should be.
