Love this. I do have to say that when Prince was alive, it wasn't all great though, even his own community could be pretty harsh, especially online. Gosh, even I'm ashamed of some of the stuff I said and I'm pretty tame. I think in many ways his death has made us all reflect on how spoiled we were, how much music there was, how much music there still is, and how much there still is to come. And that's exciting, as well as cohesive for the community as a whole. And for those who were lucky enough to share the journey with him, it kind of feels like a privilege for us all to have been on that crazy ride.
And this was why I mainly only lurked in the other place's Prince Music and More - there were times when it appeared that there were more Prince haters in that forum than fans. I only came to there because Housequake died.Love this. I do have to say that when Prince was alive, it wasn't all great though, even his own community could be pretty harsh, especially online. you here? Awesome!Def a lurker in the Prince world pre duck out. Joined the org in 06 or so and didn't feel welcomed there. I was always a lone wolf fan before then and after and sometimes miss it to be honest...feels more intimate when it's just you and his energy without any other influences...
It's really interesting how there's a possessiveness around Prince that isn't welcoming of new folks. If you haven't discovered P yet, I kind of envy you for the stuff you're about to discover that will change your life! I get super excited to meet new people just discovering him myself. I want to run around being a tour guide and witness their minds being blown!
I do that for people I know in real life....made a whole experience for 3 chains...made invitations and a movie trailer and people enjoyed it!
One time I also made a PowerPoint for a friend and we did a 5 hour long Prince orientation.
He was into it tho!

Even now the PM&M forum is full of haters and MJ trolls. I'm getting sick of it. How can the mods let this fly?... And they knew he read that site.He read complaints about his music and (what probably struck him the hardest) were comments about his appearance.
I think experiencing Prince's work on your own in a bubble really was such an important and formative aspect of me beginning my Prince journey. I never felt at peace in the Org and it certainly never felt a very welcoming place. I was incredibly lucky with someone who helped me in the early days of my Prince journey and I am truly indebted to them for what they did. It's important to pass that on where you can for the next lucky person.Def a lurker in the Prince world pre duck out. Joined the org in 06 or so and didn't feel welcomed there.
