T Rex, I totally agree - Electric Warrior and the Slider were their best two, but after that Marc went up his own ass, still they had the catchiest it songs ever, only had 1 huge hit in the USA with Get it On (Called Bang a Gong there), but in the UK, Marc rode a crest of solid gold from late 1970's "Ride a white swan" until mid 1973's "The Groover", he had 4 number ones, 3 number 2, 2 number 3's and a number 4 hit. One single came out after another during TRextasy
I like a lot of the British Glam rock of that era, some of the songs like Can the Can, My Coo ca choo, Son of my Father, Co co, Ballroom Blitz, Gudbuy tu Jane, Wig Wam Bam, See my Baby Jive, Come up and see me sometime etc..
The greatest artists to emerge out of glam rock were David Bowie and Elton John, both were so much bigger than the Glam rock fad of the early 1970s (Not to be confused with late 1980s hair metal in the USA), the UK version was long haired bands who sang heavy sounding bubblegum music with shiny clothes, stars, glitter, guitars, make up, long flowing hair, very catchy riffs and beats and over the top drum soloing along with some unlikely looking stars like Gary Glitter. The fans were all teenyboppers and these acts often played old theatres and movie cinemas in places like Motherwell, Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Lancaster, Bognor Regis etc.
Glam wuz tops between 1971 and 1975 and then died off when the T Rexs, Bowies and EJ gave way to the more marginal acts like The Sweet, Glitter Band and the Bay City Rollers.
