Taking Independent and Unofficial Back

Climate Change is definitely real and it's already here.

Biden and Environmental Groups Try to Protect Climate Policies from Trump [NYTimes;11.9.24]

They will work to accelerate implementing the provisions of the inflation Reduction Act.

From the article:
“Mr. Biden set a goal of cutting American emissions by roughly 50 percent from 2005 levels by the end of this decade. That’s what all major economies need to do to avoid increasingly dire consequences of global warming, scientists say.

Mr. Trump intends to abandon that effort. His vision of economic growth calls for more oil and gas drilling — which is already at record levels in the United States — along with tariffs and tax cuts.

Still, environmental activists and Mr. Podesta insisted that most Americans did not vote for more fossil fuels.

“You’d be hard-pressed to see anything in the data that would indicate people have soured on the movement toward clean energy,” Mr. Podesta said. But he said that the factories and jobs that were being created by the Inflation Reduction Act had not come online fast enough for most Americans to feel the impact.”

Also, from the article:

“Senator Edward J. Markey, Democrat of Massachusetts, all but dared Republicans to repeal the law. “If Republican lawmakers want to follow Donald Trump off the cliff and kill 343,000 jobs nationwide, they’ll be signing their own political death warrant,” he said in an interview.

“Canceling electric vehicle plants in Georgia and battery factories in South Carolina is a losing strategy,” Mr. Markey said, adding, “The problem for Trump is the green revolution is blue and red.””

Here’s the same article but pasted directly into the post, in case that works better:

Here’s one about the several wildfires in and around Los Angeles decimating huge residential and downtown areas. It’s an opinion piece by an astrophysicist who changed his career path to climate science in the early aughts while observing weather in his neighborhood in Pasadena, a place he loved. What he and his family experienced there, years ago, alarmed him to the point that they moved away, to North Carolina! Well! We know that North Carolina is no haven either. I’ve already forgotten the name of the hurricane that spread catastrophic damage there. in 2024 . . Must look up.

Oh. Yeah. It was Hurricane Helene. I put a post about it over in the thread ‘Elections - 2024,’ post #128.

I put it there due to t0000 (SURPRISE!!! (not)) turning to page 25 in his ‘Political Playbook’, . . . Chapter 3 ‘Turn Tragedy into Your Special Friend.’ In case you are wondering, Chapter 1 is titled ‘Always Blame the Enemy’; Chapter 2: ‘Make Shit Up! Your Firehose of Lies Is a Powerful Tool’ and doing his best to spread divisiveness, disinformation, and dissatisfaction, the usual dreck.

Okay. Yeah. I made that up about t0000 having a Political Playbook with actual chapters.
