Shameless Plug For My New Radio Show!

If you're tired of hearing the same 40 songs on satellite radio or your local "classic rock" station, tune in to ROCK AND ROLL RADIO today because here we go, y'all - the last four ROCK AND ROLL RADIO shows of the year will absolutely, positively prove to the world that we really are living in the Second Golden Age of Classic Rock! We're playing nothing but songs released in 2024, and we've got about 200 of them to choose from. The depth of great rock and roll right now is ASTOUNDING.

I'll put the songs that came out in 2024 against the body of work from ANY YEAR you want. That's right - I am telling those of us who came of age in the '60's, the '70's and/or the '80's (it took some of us longer to come of age than others) that the kind of music we loved back then is being made and it's being made in BUNCHES.

The Ladies That Rock have put out so much INCREDIBLE rock this year that of the four remaining shows, one of them will be nothing BUT songs from the Ladies That Rock! That comes in a couple weeks but today we're going to hear from Broken Hearts Club, Velvet Rush, Roxx Revolt & The Velvets, Tabloited, and The Loyal Cheaters.

It's the last ROCK AND ROLL RADIO SHOW of 2024 or as I like to look at it - the fourth show in a row with nothing but rock released THIS YEAR!

When I started this show four (?!?) years ago, I figured I'd be playing mostly stuff from my archives since I thought I had more rock music than anyone. So that's what I played - for about three shows and then I ran out of archives!

That led me to look for stuff I didn't have and then that led me to new music. Long story short - I found out there are bands releasing songs RIGHT NOW that are as good as anything from the '70's or '80's. And tons of it, too!

Join us today as we wrap up this year's output in The Second Golden Age Of Classic Rock. Finish the year strong with Goodbye June, The Karma Effect, The Midnight Devils, The Southern River Band, Doomsday Outlaws, Red Voodoo, Classless Act and Atomic Freak. Are those names new to you? Just a quick heads-up and a sincere wish for a Happy New Year from ROCK AND ROLL RADIO!

We're taking this week off but should be back next week (1/10/25) with Episode 178/2025 Show #1. We've already got a plethora - a PLETHORA - of new releases! I do have to say though - there were so many great songs released in 2022 and 2023 that I'm just going to have to dip into that archive (archive?!?) and frankly, I can't wait!

Here I go again, doing something I don't normally do but I just can't help myself!

I've just finished programming this week's ROCK AND ROLL RADIO show and as promised, it's all-international. That's right - 26 songs from 26 different countries. Who else can do this? Probably nobody!

But doing something that no one else can do isn't what's got me all fired up - it's the quality of the songs! Think about it - 26 countries from six of the seven continents (and we're going to give Antarctica a pass, obvs) and yet the quality of the music is simply ASTOUNDING. We have literally traveled the WORLD this week and everywhere we went, we found GREAT ROCK AND ROLL!

Classic rock isn't just thriving - it's thriving the world over! Can't wait til y'all hear this week's show!

2025 has started with a bang in many ways, not the least of which is some incredibly great new rock and roll. Today features new stuff from Crossbone Skully, The Commoners, Sweet Electric (you NEED to hear their story) and others.

My Memories tells me that one year ago today was a pretty dang good day for the good guys. So let's celebrate that anniversary with some ROCK AND ROLL RADIO!

We've got 10 new songs and another 16 absolute bangers but there's one song in particular I think you'll really dig.

The Warning's cover of "You Oughta Know" (Alanis Morrissette) is simply fantastic. I posted it on my feed a day or so ago and if you listen to today's show (which you will, right?), you'll hear it again on the Ladies That Rock. Take note of Ale Villarreal's bass playing. She's playing the same parts that Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers played on the original but in this case, the bass isn't buried in the mix. And it is FANTASTIC.

But of course, that's not all we've got today! You'll be just as blown away by new stuff from The Darkness, Crossbone Skully, The Bites, Sisters Doll, The Midnight Calls and a great new band, Steve Creep and the Wildcards. Plus a whole lot more!

Since this thread is for shameless posts about ROCK AND ROLL RADIO, let me shamelessly say:

ROCK AND ROLL RADIO is the best rock and roll music show in the world!

I don't mean to brag but how can I not? We're 183 episodes in and the music just keeps getting better and better and dare I say, so does my squeaking and beeping!

As usual, we are loaded with new and GREAT rock and roll from bands such as Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, Steve Creep & the Wildcards, Marty K & The Electric Hurricanes and believe it or not, an act without an ampersand in its name - Kit Trigg.

But what prompted this shameless chest-beating is this week's Ladies That Rock set. Wow, is it strong! As I was recording it, tears came to my eyes - that's how good the stuff from Thundermother, Bobbie Dazzle, The Amorettes, Joanne Shaw Taylor and The Infamous HER is. Who knew fantastic rock could make your eyes leak?!?

If you want to see if YOUR eyes will leak, or if your pulse will rise, or even if you'll get your ass up off your seat, tune in to this week's ROCK AND ROLL RADIO. URGH - a music war! Pretty cool movie but NOT a cool description of whatever glitch kept the latest show off the air. But it will be dropped THIS Friday and I promise you, it's gonna be worth the wait!
